Castle of Donnafugata

Ceramics of Caltagirone

Ceramics of Caltagirone are one of the excellence in the Ragusa area and one of the most famous handicraft all over Italy and the world, realized in the homonym town not so far from Villa del Lauro. Hand-made, colorful and decorated with different patterns, the ceramics of Caltagirone are the expression of an ancient tradition. They were firstly produced during Neolith era and because of the melting process of different cultures, they have been used to create the most important Sicilian symbols, such as the Trinacria, the pinecones and the Moorish heads.
