Territory
The province of Ragusa, the smallest and the youngest of the Sicilian provinces, covers an area of roughly 1600 square kilometres in the south-western side of the Island and has a total population of 300,000.
Thanks to the Baroque Architecture, symbol and evidence of the local culture, to the typical landscape of the Hybleian plateau, to the deep-rooted local traditions, to the very sweet climate, the tourism in this area has been stimulated and improved in the last years. Besides, the natural vocation of the local people to welcome makes the discovering of the place easier and more enjoyable to the tourist.
The tourism is as much important today, at last able to take advantage of the range of archaeological, artistic and naturalistic riches of the province. Notably, the last decade has seen an outstanding growth, with the construction of new tourism facilities.
